Chinese Automaker Coming to U.S.
Are you wondering on when will the Chinese automakers begin selling their product in the United States? Now, one of them has started the invasion and planning to begin their sales next year. The report from The Glendale Press News said that BYD is currently setting up a shop at a dealership in Glendale, California. This is to prepare the launch of their new electric vehicles.
This Chinese automaker is already copying the vehicles in California roads and the Housing Authority at Los Angeles now has 10 vehicles for lease. All those units are being serviced by BYD employees, and the company is using the dealership to train their technicians at the same time, before they begin their retail and fleet sales at late this year or early next year. Onnik Mehrabian, the owners of the retail store is hoping to own a BYD store one day.
BYD is claiming that they will sell the car for around $ 32,000. That is pretty much the same amount with a Nissan Leaf. It is actually a doubtful thing to put an unknown automaker in the same line with an established automaker like Nissan. But BYD is reportedly able to travel 200 miles only with its electric power.

Hyundai Elantra Recalled Due To Its Airbag
Hyundai has announced two recalls for their airbag which is involved around 300,000 Elantra models. The first badge of that recall will affects 188,697 vehicles which are sold between 2007 and 2009 to fix the passenger airbag problem. The Detroit News is reporting that the front passenger seat on this Elantra has a sensor to measures the passenger’s weight. The recalled vehicles’ sensor might not properly detect it.
That is not sounds like a big trouble. But actually when the car is crashing, the airbag will automatically deploy even if there is only a child sitting in the front seat. Hyundai claims that the sensors might be malfunctioning because of moisture, so they will add a protective sleeve to cover the device.
The second recall will bring 95,783 units of Elantra models because of the sensor in the two stage deployment at the passenger side airbag. The later airbag system has a dual stage deployment, which means that it will detect if the passenger is sitting to close to the bag. So, when there is a crash, there will be only the low pressure stage that deploy. Hyundai said that it may because of electronic noise that confuses the sensor.

Next Small Car From Jaguar Will be Called As XS
The picture you see above is the B99 Bertone Concept from Jaguar, and it has nothing to do with the next small car from Jaguar that we will talk about. Just before the New York and Shanghai Auto Shows is starting, Netherlands will bring you the 2011 AutoRAI in Amsterdam. That is where Jaguar is said to announce their smaller sedan, including the naming for the car (rumored to be XS).
The name will suits perfectly with Jaguar’s current line such as XJ, XF, and XK. Last month at Geneva Motor Show, Bertone has shown their B99 concept above and give the customers a new option for a smaller Jaguar’s sedan. However, Jaguar itself didn’t think that this car is good enough, probably because of its backward looking design instead of evolving the current model.
Jaguar seems to try to produce a smaller entry level sedan. Despite avoiding the pitfalls of their X-Type, Jaguar’s next sedan will be slotted in the same class with the Benz’s C-Class, BMW’s 3 Series, and other similar midsize luxury sedans. Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director said that if the car should be elegant and bring some great technologies to do that.

If you are watching the American LeMans Series and are paying an extra attention to the Chevrolet Corvettes that is battling there, you will notice that the car is pretty much different with its twins on the market at your first glance. However actually, both the car has a more similar engine than what you might think, although their purposes are different.
Actually, Chevrolet is using similar engine architecture for both the cars. The ALMS version of Corvette has exactly the same engine as the Corvette Z06. But now, those were the only similarities that they have and after that, everything is different. The racing version’s engine is limited to only two 28 mm air intakes in order to level the other GT Class playing field. That engine’s displacement is also limited to only 5.5 liters, while the marketed version is 7.0 liters.
Although both the car has a different purpose of creation, but their goal is still the same: To maximized the power and efficiency. Chevrolet has builds and develops their racing engines in house in order to bring some of those technologies into their street cars.
