Our Hilda: Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent was spotted walking from the Granada Studios to the Great John Street hotel with her hair in rollers

She's one of the new breed of glammed up soap starlets - but Coronation Street's Brooke Vincent harked back to the golden age of Weatherfield when she was spotted earlier today.

The 18-year-old star was spotted a stone's throw from the Granada Studios where Corrie is filmed, with her hair in rollers - just like Corrie legend Hilda Ogden.

The teen was also looking decidedly dressed down in a dark blue velour hoodie, flipflops, tight white top but very baggy light blue tracksuit bottoms that she was struggling to hold up.

Either that, or she was desperate for the toilet as she topped up the parking meter for her car.

However, there were glimmers of hope for Brooke on the style horizon, as it appeared she was going to Manchester's Great John Street hotel to have her hair done.

The star was later seen emerging from the four-star establishment over the road from the Coronation Street studios with a sleek new do.

Shades of glamour: Although dressed down, Brooke was sporting a gorgeous heart-shaped Vivienne Westwood bag

Brooke plays the Street's first ever lesbian character, Sophie Webster, who's recently fallen for best friend Sian Powers, played by Sacha Parkinson.

Perhaps she was having her locks made luscious to impress her Sapphic onscreen partner.

Let's hope she changed into a smarter outfit before she shot her scenes, however.

Brooke's Corrie co-star and screen mum Sally Dynevor has praised soap bosses for the way her character handles the revelation that her daughter is a lesbian.

Ms Dynevor plays Sophie's mum Sally Webster, who's set to find out about her daughter's currently secret romance soon.

Speaking to New! magazine, actress Sally said: 'At first, she's really shocked and says daft things like, "I'm not having any dungarees in this house!"

'But then she becomes quite protective of Sophie and Sian and defends them.'

She went on: 'I'm so glad the writers have done it like that.'

Ms Dynevor has has plenty of dramas in real life of late too, and was recently declared in remission in her battle against breast cancer.
